St. Vincent de Paul

Types of Assistance

Help in the Food Pantry, assist with emergency assistance or with special projects such as the Souper Bowl, Uniforms for Kids and Prescription Phil. The St. Vincent de Paul Conference can also help with electric and/or water bills. However, they do not offer rental assistance at this time.
 
For assistance from SVdP Conference, please call the hotline at 225-261-1222 and leave a message. A representative will call to set up a meeting on a Wednesday. 
 

The Food Pantry

Located on Frenchtown Road across from St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, volunteers with the St. Vincent de Paul Conference meet with clients and give out food every Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. On average, the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry across from St. Alphonsus helps feed 120-160 families each month.
 
In order for someone to qualify for assistance, an applicant must meet the following criteria:
 
1) An applicant must be a resident of a parish in which the recipient agency has jurisdiction. Proof of residency required. 
 
2) An applicant must meet certain financial criteria.
 
Applicants must first call 225-261-1222. Then, they must show valid form of identification when meeting with the St. Vincent de Paul Conference. If applicant meets critera b, c or d, they must bring paperwork showing what aid they receive. Once approved, applicants must sign papers and must recertify every June to maintain aid through this organization. Applicants must show a valid form of identification when picking up food as well.
